JEAN MONNET MODULE EXCELLENCE AWARD: "EUROPEAN SUSTAINABLE VALUES IN ENVIRONMENTAL AND AGRICULTURAL POLICIES"
The Jean Monnet module entitled “European Sustainable Values in Environmental and Agricultural Policies” is being successfully implemented at the University Business Academy in Novi Sad. The project is funded within the framework of the European Union’s Erasmus+ Program, and on May 13, 2026, the official project plaque was ceremonially unveiled.
This project represents a continuation of the University’s many years of successful work in the fields of European studies, internationalization, and the promotion of European Union values through teaching and scientific research activities. For nearly a decade, the University Business Academy has continuously implemented Jean Monnet projects, including the previously realized modules “Serbia’s Accession to the European Union”, “Implementation of EU Values in the Policies of Candidate Countries”, and “European Sustainable Values in the Common Agricultural Policy”. The new project further confirms the University’s commitment to developing high standards in teaching and research in the field of European integrations.
Speaking about the importance of Jean Monnet modules, Prof. Dragan Soleša PhD, Vice President of the University Business Academy, emphasized that these projects are of exceptional value for students, academic staff, and society as a whole. “This is a major project of great importance, and we are proud that the University Business Academy, as one of the first private universities in Serbia, continuously receives support from the European Union through Jean Monnet projects. The greatest value of these activities is not the financial aspect, but rather the education of young people and their preparation to understand European policies and values and to apply the acquired knowledge in the economy, education, and institutions,” emphasized Prof. Dragan Soleša.
He further emphasized that through such programs students acquire the knowledge and competencies necessary for the process of Serbia’s European integration, especially in the fields of environmental protection, sustainable development, and agriculture.
“The professors of the University Business Academy are qualified to educate young people according to European Union standards, preparing future leaders of social change and development. Our students receive certificates and practical knowledge that they can apply in the real sector, the economy, and education, which represents a significant benefit not only for them, but also for the country as a whole,” added Prof. Dragan Soleša.
The project coordinator, Prof. Jelena Vapa Tankosić PhD, Full Professor and Vice Dean for Cooperation with Industry, pointed out that the project integrates educational, research, and practical activities aimed at promoting European sustainable values. “During the implementation of the project, we organize free specialist courses, debates, and professional training sessions through which students have the opportunity to become familiar with the latest European measures, mechanisms, and practices in the fields of environmental protection, sustainable agriculture, and rural development. Special attention is devoted to young people in rural areas and to improving the quality of life in those communities,” emphasized Prof. Vapa.
Prof. Vapa further added that this is a multidisciplinary project which connects the fields of economics, agribusiness, ecology, and law, thereby contributing to the improvement of teaching and scientific research at the University Business Academy. “We also organize professional training sessions and activities involving cooperation with representatives of the business sector and professional associations through the exchange of experiences and examples of good European practice. The project also results in publications presenting scientific research findings, which constitute an additional contribution to the development of European studies at our University,” emphasized Prof. Vapa.
During the event, certificates of the Jean Monnet module were awarded to students who successfully completed the project activities, confirming their active participation and acquired competencies in the field of European sustainable values and European Union policies.
