FINAL EVENT OF THE SHORT STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL "FILMić" 2024
The award ceremony for the best short student film at the FILMić 2024 Festival was held on May 29, 2024, in the lecture hall "Prof. Slavko Carić" at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management, University Business Academy in Novi Sad.
The main award, the so-called FILMić plaque, was awarded to the Young Locomotive Drivers Team from the Secondary School for Economics and Commerce in Smederevo for their film titled "The Last Train."
The first place in the category of elementary schools was awarded to the team from Elementary School "Đura Jakšić" from Kać for their film "Blackmail with a Photo." The first place in the category of high schools was taken by the team from the Secondary School for Economics and Commerce in Smederevo for their film "The Last Tango."
The FILMić 2024 short student film festival was organized for the school year 2023/24 according to the competition and exhibition calendar of the Ministry of Education for elementary and high school students.
Prof. Dragan Soleša PhD, Rector of the University Business Academy in Novi Sad, officially opened the final event, highlighting the importance of this and similar competitions held at FIMEK and the Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary.
The attendees were also addressed by Prof. Radivoj Prodanović PhD, Vice-Dean for Teaching at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management, and Prof. Sanja Škorić PhD, Vice-Dean for Teaching at the Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary, who both expressed their satisfaction and emphasized the significance of such competitions.
Prof. Slobodan Popov PhD, representing the Center for the Development and Application of Science, Technology, and Informatics, which also organized this competition, particularly highlighted the messages sent by the awarded films in response to the given themes as seen through the eyes of the students.
Rector of the University Business Academy, Prof. Dragan Soleša, together with Prof. Slobodan Popov, presented the main award to the Secondary School for Economics and Commerce in Smederevo for their film "The Last Train". Although the award was intended for the school as a whole, it was handed over to the following students: Lazar Jovanović, Maksim Milenković, and Miljan Milenković, as well as their mentor Vesna Milićević, for their outstanding achievement. They also received special awards for the best idea, screenplay, direction, editing, and acting.
The goal of the FILMić short student film festival is to promote the active role of students in creating media materials and to popularize this form of digital literacy in schools through collaboration between students and their teachers/mentors on project creation. Elementary and high school students, in teams of up to 3 members, participated in the competition by designing scripts, filming videos, and editing them.
In this cycle of the competition, participants had four given themes to choose from:
- IF I WERE SOMEONE WHO COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE (This theme addresses current problems we observe and how they would solve them.)
- BEING INTERNET-WISE (This theme relates to the measures and dangers that need to be pointed out to protect ourselves from Internet abuse.)
- PEER VIOLENCE (This theme concerns the fight against violence and discrimination of any kind, which is increasingly present in our schools.)
- THEME OF YOUR CHOICE
Again this year, the 10 best films will be selected and screened at the "Ravno Selo Film Festival" (RSFF) in June 2024, with three chosen teams participating in five-day film workshops in Ravno Selo led by professional filmmakers (the chosen teams must provide a written statement confirming their stay in Ravno Selo at the expense of Zillion Film during the festival).
The best works, 12 films of elementary and high school students, along with their mentors, were awarded prizes provided by the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management and the Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary, University Business Academy in Novi Sad.
