Celebration in honor of successful reaccreditation of the University and opening of new facilities

Following the decision of the Commission for Accreditation and Quality Assurance of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, in late October this year, the University Business Academy in Novi Sad was among the first higher education institutions in Serbia to be successfully reaccredited.

In addition to this great honor, Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary gained a completely new study hall (auditorium), while the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management got new classrooms, a computer lab and several new offices.

Alongside with the already existing fully equipped and modern facilities, these new classrooms, a study hall and offices will contribute to creating even better studying conditions. Our university management and staff celebrated these two important cornerstones in the 14-year-long development of the University, hosting a big celebration party for our friends and partners from the business and academic world on November 13, in the study hall "Prof. Dr. Slavko Carić".

As an introduction to the celebration of this great success of University Business Academy, we organized the promotion of a monograph by Dr. Veljko Delibašić, a renowned Belgrade lawyer. The monograph was entitled "The professional title of a lawyer leaves me no room for fear - my final words". On that occasion, author’s speech was accompanied by Mr. Dragoljub Djordjevic, President of the Bar Association of Serbia and Mr. Srđan Sikimić, President of the Bar Association of Vojvodina, who touched upon some current issues and challenges of the judiciary system in Serbia today. Professor from our university, Dr. Željko Bjelajac, who is also President of the Council of the Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary, delivered a speech as well, in the presence of a large number of eminent experts in the field of law. His Excellency, Mr. Michael Davenport, as Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia, had the honor to deliver the very first lecture in the new study hall, on the following topic: "Position of the European Union in their accession negotiations with Serbia". His lecture was received by all attendees as perfectly timed encouragement to our University and constituent faculties to reinforce their positions on the European academic map.

nova zgrada

At the beginning of the official program, on behalf of the Commission for Accreditation and Quality Assurance, prof. Ratko Nikolić, Ph.D. gave a lot of praise to the University Business Academy: "In the first place, I’d like to congratulate you on the expansion of existing teaching facilities, as it is truly remarkable to see anyone in these financially challenging times to allocate significant funds for education of the young. I would also like to congratulate you on the successfully finished re-accreditation process, particularly in light of the fact that the University Business Academy is the first among 18 non-integrated private universities that currently exist in Serbia to have successfully passed all reviews with the best grades”. Rector of the University Business Academy prof. Jovo Kolar, Ph.D. confirmed that openness to foreign students will be one of the directions and goals for further development of the University, while new teaching facilities only prove our determination and efforts aimed at continuous development, in terms of studying and working conditions, as well as quality of teaching and extra-curricular activities. In the near future, we intend to open the department for interactive studies, in which foreign students will be able to study in English and learn about the European Union law and national law. The so-far achieved goals are the best indicator that we are on the right track to create a strong, internationally integrated university, recognized in the European and Serbian academic communities". President of the Council of the University Business Academy, prof. Marijana Carić, Ph.D., shared another piece of good news with guests: "In addition to successful re-accreditation, which is our biggest success and one of the reasons why we gathered here today, I have a great pleasure to announce that our University received yet another proof of its quality- an international certificate issued by an Austrian certification company.” Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management, Prof. Dragan Soleša, Ph.D., in his speech pointed to the progressive and continuous development of the University and the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management towards a society for the 21st century - the knowledge society: “It is a pleasure to follow and participate in the development of the University Business Academy in the recent years, as we have all contributed a lot to it and which resulted in the re-accreditation and opening of new facilities”. One of the guests, Prof. Rade Doroslovački, Ph.D., who is Dean of the biggest faculty in Serbia and in the region- Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, emphasized that prejudice is one of the biggest obstacles to success and further development. As an example of prejudice, prof. Doroslovački mentioned the commonly overstated differences between state and private higher education institutions. Prof. Doroslovački pointed that all HE institutions aiming at quality and continuous improvement of teaching and learning conditions and following current demands in terms of scientific and technological developments in the world, no matter whether they are state or private, play a tremendous role in the education of generations which will be the pillars of the development of Serbia.

"For the University and all of us who we have built it and fostered its development throughout years, today is a great day because we've rounded up a five-year cycle with successful re-accreditation and opened new facilities. Five years ago, when we celebrated the accreditation of the University, we also opened a new building. Obviously, with each five-year-long accreditation cycle, our needs in terms of capacities also grow, which is fully in accordance with our goal of continuous growth and development. Many thanks to all those who contributed with their knowledge and good intentions in the last five years of work, but I’d also like to thank our rivals and opponents who were trying to hinder our development, as their efforts only made us stronger. Education is an ongoing process that requires a policy of continuous quality improvement. Now that we have completed the process of re-accreditation and opened a new building, our focus will be put on the strengthening of contacts with industry and educational institutions in the country and abroad, in order to provide students with most up-to-date teaching content and even more possibilities for personal and professional development. Our mission is fulfilled only if our students are satisfied. Over the past 14 years, the University Business Academy has relentlessly and continuously worked on improving the quality of education and studying conditions for our students, and we will keep doing so in the future as well because taking the time off is not for people and institutions who always strive to become better tomorrow than they are today", said the Dean of the Faculty of Law for Commerce and Judiciary- prof. Marko Carić, Ph.D. at the celebration of a successful re-accreditation of the University Business Academy.
