The final ceremony of the event called "Days of Informatics in the Schools of Vojvodina 2019” was held on 18 December, 2019 at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management in Novi Sad. On that occasion the prestigious award "Professor Stjepan Han" was awarded to the School of Electrical and Civil Engineering "Nikola Tesla” from Zrenjanin, as the most successful school in the promotion and application of information technology.
"Days of Informatics in the Schools of Vojvodina" is a manifestation that has been organized for the thirteenth time in elementary and secondary schools of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, under the auspices of the Provincial Secretariat for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities - National Communities and Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management in Novi Sad - FIMEK. Center for the Development and Application of Science, Technology and Informatics was in charge of the organization and realization of the whole project. The award "Professor Stjepan Han" is awarded every year to the best school in the field of computer science and informatics in Vojvodina. Every year, within the framework of this event, the organizers also reward schools, teachers and students who have achieved outstanding results. The aim of this project is to encourage the process of digitalization of teaching in the schools of Vojvodina as well as to popularize new technologies in school teaching and extracurricular activities.
On behalf of the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management in Novi Sad, the present guests were greeted by the Dean of the Faculty, prof. Dragan Soleša, Ph.D. Prof. Soleša emphasized that the manifestation "Days of Informatics in the Schools of Vojvodina" is of great importance for FIMEK, as FIMEK educates bachelors and masters of computer science as well as doctors of science in electrical engineering and computer science. In his welcome speech, prof. Dragan Soleša, pointed out that IT is one of the most important areas today, offering numerous employment possibilities and promising a bright future for young people both in the home country and abroad. Prof. Soleša also emphasized the importance of digitalization of teaching in schools, as well as promoting and rewarding the most successful students, which are great incentives for them to continue working on their own development and education.
The next speech was given by prof. Slobodan Popov, Ph.D., author of the whole project and President of the Center for Development and Application of Science, Technology and Informatics, this year marking its 20th anniversary. Prof. Popov emphasized that without the support of the Provincial Secretariat for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities and the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management, which always supports all good ideas that contribute to science and education, the Center wouldn’t have survived with so much success and amazing results for many years. Ms. Jasmina Pastonjicki, President of the jury, pointed out that despite the problems that elementary and secondary schools are facing nowadays in terms of lack of equipment and resources, teachers and mentors continue to find motivation and enthusiasm to prepare their students for this competition, in which they have repeatedly been achieving great results.
Prof. Ilija Ćosić Ph.D., a regular and esteemed guest of the event, addressed the audience and presented the character and work of prof. Stjepan Han, after whom the prestigious award got its name. Numerous schools, teachers and students have received awards for outstanding results achieved in different categories, such as: school website, greatest number of projects submitted for competition, work with interactive boards, implementation of professional development, development of educational software, contribution to the field of robotics, information technology, innovations, etc.
