On April 5, 2022, the University Business Academy in Novi Sad hosted a press conference devoted to the new Jean Monet module with the overarching theme: "European sustainable values in the common agricultural policy". On that occasion, Prof. Dragan Soleša, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management and Project Coordinator, together with prof. For the third time in the last few years, the University Business Academy in Novi Sad has been included in the group of renowned world universities that carry out Jean Monnet activities. These are activities that are part of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union and aim to promote high standards in teaching and research in the field of European Union studies. This year, the University Business Academy applied for the Jean Monnet module with the theme "European sustainable values in the common agricultural policy". As the European Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual Policy and Culture has decided, the project of the University Business Academy has been accepted for financing. "No higher education institution, whether state or private, can think of surviving in the market if it does not work on developing new projects." Our university tradition of over 20 years of existence also obliges us to move forward. We are extremely proud of the fact that in the conditions of really great competition of renowned European and world universities, our project received such a high rating. Thus, the University Business Academy has found itself among some of the best universities that carry out Jean Monnet activities, which is a great success because only the best projects win," said the Project Coordinator - Prof. Dragan Soleša.
The Jean Monet module "European Sustainable Values in the Common Agricultural Policy" consists of shorter study units in the field of European Union studies that are specifically aimed at raising awareness of the importance of respecting sustainable European values in agriculture. By studying the EU model of agriculture and its sustainable economic, social, and ecological values, the module will result in better understanding of the future obligations of the Republic of Serbia arising from the opening of negotiations within Chapter 11, namely, Agriculture and Rural Development.
"The Jean Monnet module in European sustainable values builds on the results of previous activities and is a continuation of the Jean Monnet module "Accession of Serbia to the EU" and "Application of EU values in the policies of the candidate states". Understanding the sustainable principles and values of the Common Agricultural Policy, related to the process of European integration, will provide our students with relevant knowledge in the field of the latest reforms within the European Common Agricultural Policy, rural policy of the European Union, which include the principles of sustainable development and responsible management of natural resources, organic agriculture, as well as the protection of geographical indications. This module is aimed at acquiring knowledge about modern measures that are necessary for the development of activities in rural areas, which contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of agriculture, improving the biodiversity of rural areas and improving the quality of life, as well as measures to encourage the diversification of the rural economy." - emphasized prof. Jelena Vapa Tankosić, Project Manager and full professor at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering Management in Novi Sad.
Teaching will be conducted by the project coordinator - Prof. Dragan Soleša together with Prof. Jelena Vapa Tankosić, as the project manager, and collaborators on the project - prof. Vladimir Medović and prof. Radivoj Prodanović. "The planned teaching activities have a multidisciplinary character and relate to different aspects of common European values in agriculture and their importance for the process of Serbia's accession to the EU," said Prof. Jelena Vapa Tankosić.
Specialist courses are free of charge and open to students of all study levels at the University Business Academy. A special professional seminar is also planned to be held during the course, which will be specifically targeted at members of the beekeeping association.
